This weekend The Gentle Barn is celebrating their 20th Anniversary this year! The Gentle Barn offers their unique philosophy of rehabilitating animals and connecting their stories of survival and healing to the personal experiences of inner city, at-risk and special needs children who have suffered physical, mental or emotional trauma.
The Gentle Barn is a national nonprofit organization, founded in 1999 as a sanctuary and place of recovery for severely abused animals and children. This year at the anniversary gala is hosted by Whitney Cummings! Additional celebs such as Nikki Reed and Chase Utley, Mena Suvari, Jan Tanner, Derek Kosloski, amongst many others will be in attendance.
Alicia Silverstone recently praised The Gentle Barn for it’s hard work and her love of the organization.
“I’ve been an animal lover since I was little and I had my 25th birthday at The Gentle Barn,” Silverstone said. “People don’t grow up seeing cows and pigs, so The Gentle Barn does a really good job of having people interact with these animals so maybe they’ll think about how they eat differently. Fifty-one percent of climate change is caused because of animal agriculture and what’s happening in the Amazon right now is due to cattle ranching.”
The Gentle Barn is supported by Celebrities such as Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi, Christian Serratos, Hillary Swank, Beth Behrs, David Backes, Daisy Fuentes, Channing Tatum and many more. They even helped Kumail Nanjiani get over his fear of goats!
Animals do so much for humankind and it’s time that we all join forces and return the favor! By interacting with The Gentle Barn’s approximate one hundred and fifty animals and taking a hands-on role in their welfare, those who participate in the programs at The Gentle Barn learn empathy, trust and forgiveness.
